Jill ran Zenger Farm for seven years, where 10,000 students learn where good food comes from each year. Jill was named one of Portland’s 50 most influential people by Portland Monthly Magazine.
For years, Jill dreamed of starting a distillery featuring the very best of Oregon agriculture. Her friend, and whiskey-drinkin’ buddy, Cory Carman of Carman Ranch, agreed to grow the rye for her future rye whiskey. And thus, Freeland Spirits was born.
Molly Troupe grew up not far from Portland in Troutdale, Oregon. She attended Southern Oregon University where she earned a Bachelor degree in Chemistry. After SOU, she continued her education by attending Heriot Watt University where she earned a Master degree in Brewing and Distilling. Upon graduating, she moved back to Oregon and put her education to work starting in Quality Control and ending in Production Management and Lead Distiller in a career that spanned several Oregon distilleries. In 2017, she joined forces with Jill Kuehler as Freeland Spirit’s Master Distiller. Molly’s strengths as a distiller lay with her recipe development, quality control, problem solving, and process development. In 2018 she was featured on Forbes 30 Under 30 for Food and Beverage and is currently the youngest female Master Distiller in the United States. A path to wine and spirits surfaced for Jesse Brantley working the floor of steakhouses in central Texas to fund an Art History degree at UT. Considering beverage production a cultural expression, Jesse studies fermented and distilled liquids with a connection to place and history. The love of hospitality and satisfaction of selecting the right bottle fueled a passion to always learn more. After years of study and service, achieving Certified Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET level 3 and CSW with Society of Wine educators, Jesse served as Beverage Director and General Manager of several establishments across the country. A growing interest in the logistics of moving bottles from producer to table led to sales with a leading national distributor. As Director of Sales at Freeland Spirits in Portland, Jesse enthusiastically shares the distillery’s story and works to move artisan spirits around the world.
Born and raised in Amarillo, TX, KaCee moved to the PNW in 2009 and began working at some of Portland's best restaurants and bars, including Clyde Common and Bar Casa Vale. Now she is making up the best concoctions with the best spirits in the Freeland tasting room.
