Dance for happy whiskey

While earning my undergraduate degree in Chemistry, I excelled in the lab setting. As a student, I was average, but at lab I was enthralled with the physical study of chemistry in motion. One of my firm beliefs was dancing for good results. Yes…dancing.

There have been numerous studies that show that plants that are exposed to a healthy diet of water and air AND music grow into healthier plants. What is it about music that makes plants happy? Is it the positive vibes from the bass or is it just because music makes people happy and happiness is transferable to plants? Probably not…for me I found that dancing for good results may have been synergistic but more likely my upbeat attitude was transferred. Dancing in lab made me relax, something I desperately needed to do as a stressed-out college students. Relaxed laboratory students make less mistakes and making less mistakes in turn further decreases your stress levels.

Dancing for stress release has followed me in my career in a distillery as one of my many ways to cut stress on a production floor. Who can’t help but smile when someone awkwardly pop-locks-and-drops-it? I would like to think that the whiskey appreciates the gesture and we all know that happy whiskey is good whiskey.
